Erasmus+ KA1 is often discussed as if it only means sending students on a work placement abroad, but the Key Action funds a wider set of mobility formats — some for learners, some for staff, and some for whole groups travelling together.

A school running its first project often starts with short-term learner mobility or group mobility, both of which are easier to plan around a school term. ErasmusPro suits students closer to graduation who can commit to a longer absence and benefit from a deeper placement. Staff mobility is frequently combined with a learner mobility project — a preparatory visit before the first group travels is a common way for a school to check a new destination before committing students to it.
For a host organisation, each format changes what needs to be arranged — a two-week group mobility needs a tighter, more supervised schedule than a three-month ErasmusPro placement, which requires a company willing to commit to a longer training relationship. Confirming the activity type early lets a host partner plan the right kind of company match from the start.
